Most aquatic deal: Regional firm Mills & Reeve acted for Bedfordshire Consortium - comprising the East of England Development Agency and various councils in the Bedford area - on the provision of up to £4 million in seed funding to NIRAH Holdings (National Institute of Research into Aquatic Habitats). NIRAH has been set up to build a facility in Stewartby, Bedfordshire, for aquatic species and their habitats. When built, it will be the world's largest vivaria/aquaria. Hard-rocking deal: The London office of Beachcroft Wansbroughs advised Mean Fiddler Group, the music festival and concert organiser behind the Reading and Glastonbury festivals, on a £38 million takeover offer from US entertainment group Clear Channel and Irish entrepreneur Denis Desmond. Irish firm Arthur Cox and national firm Hammonds advised the bidders.
Most nuclear deal: National firm Pinsent Masons advised the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs and the Department of Trade and Industry on the acquisition of Nirex. The company was set up by the UK nuclear industry in 1982 to develop radioactive waste disposal facilities. Magic circle firm Clifford Chance and US/UK firm DLA Piper Rudnick Gray Cary advised shareholders British Energy and British Nuclear Fuels respectively, while another owner, the UK Atomic Energy Authority, was advised by its in-house team. City firm Slaughter and May and Bristol-based Burges Salmon acted for Nirex, while Herbert Smith advised the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority.
Snappiest deal: City firm Travers Smith advised the vendors on the $165 million (£87 million) sale of London-based Digital Vision, one of the world's leading royalty-free photography businesses, to Getty Images. City firm Field Fisher Waterhouse advised Getty.
Wordiest deal: London firm Olswang advised Channel 4 on its acquisition of a 51% share in Oneword Radio, which operates a national digital station, for £1 million. Birmingham firm Wragge & Co acted for UBC Media, owners of Oneword.
