An employment solicitor has set up a website dedicated to offering support to legal aid firms that are closing down, merging or moving away from publicly funded work.

The Employment Law for Legal Aid website , set up by Gordon Turner (pictured), partner at Partners Employment Lawyers and a former legal aid lawyer, provides advice on issues arising from changes within the publicly funded sector, including: managing redundancies and claims for constructive dismissal; handling transfer of undertakings, protection of employment (TUPE) claims; and making changes to employment contracts and terms and conditions.

The website offers free downloadable checklists on relevant topics, as well as document packs which can be downloaded for a fee. The site also offers employment law advice at a discounted rate for legal aid firms.

Legal Aid Practitioners Group director Carol Storer said: ‘The website is very timely, and a canny way to bring employment law expertise to legal aid practices at a difficult time, but without the expense of training.’
