National firm Eversheds advises more stock market clients than any other law firm, according to the latest quarterly rankings from investment adviser Hemscott. However, nearly all the firms featured in Hemscott’s rankings saw client numbers fall in the most recent three-month period surveyed.

Eversheds topped the table for the second quarter, running with 110 stock market clients in total, five fewer than three months before.

City firm Norton Rose came in joint-second with 109 clients, two fewer than before, alongside magic circle firm Slaughter and May (one fewer).

National firm Pinsent Masons dropped three clients to come fourth with 103 in total, while City firm Ashurst dropped five clients to come in fifth place with 89 in total.

When broken down into individual markets, Slaughter and May held the most FTSE 100 clients (27), FTSE 250 clients (38) and small-cap clients (30), while Pinsent Masons held the most AIM clients (57).

The Advisers Rankings Guide rated firms for the three months ending 2 February.
