FELIX forms shared links
East Anglian firm Mills & Reeve has launched a knowledge management system called FELIX (Fee-Earner Legal Information exchange).
Accessible through the firm's Intranet, it allows lawyers to share on-line access of key documents, practice notes and precedents in addition to links to external subscription sources.
It has been customised and implemented by IT consultancy Granite & Comfrey.
Mills & Reeve's IT team has integrated the new system with its existing iManage document management system, as well as incorporating parts of existing home-grown applications.FELIX allows knowledge to be categorised by work type, document type and subject matter, and brings all internal references together in a single database. The system automatically updates the know-how without re-editing or revisiting the original document.
Changes in legislation or case law which affect documents are noted on the original document with a link provided.
