Housing law committee - vacancies for membership
The Law Society's housing law committee is concerned with improving law, practice and procedure, implementing good practice for the profession and responding to proposals put forward by the government, Law Commission, and other bodies concerned with housing law.
Over the past year, the committee has responded to the Commission's consultation 'Renting Homes 1: Status and Security', hosted a seminar on anti-social behaviour orders and continued its work on the housing disrepair protocol.
The committee currently has a vacancy for a practitioner with experience in the not-for-profit sector.
Applications are sought from solicitors with substantial experience in this sector and an active interest in law reform and changes in practice and procedure.
Applicants should be willing and able to contribute ideas and practical experience at committee meetings (attendance expenses paid) and on working parties.
The committee meets six times a year and members are appointed for an initial term of three years.
Some work has to be done prior to and between meetings.
Applications are welcome from all irrespective of sex, race, colour, age, sexuality, religion or disability.
Appointments will be made following a selection process which will include interviews of shortlisted candidates.
Applications are particularly welcome from solicitors who practise outside London.
For an application pack please contact: Philippa Wright, Law Reform Team; tel: 020 7320 5944; fax: 0207 7320 5673; e-mail: philippa.wright@lawsociety.org.uk; or write to the Law Society at 113 Chancery Lane, London WC2A 1PL or DX 56 London/Chancery Lane.
