Law Society president I. Stephanie Boyce is among 28 legal sector leaders on a week-long trade mission to the Middle East this week. The team, led by justice minister Lord Wolfson QC, will showcase the UK’s legal sector and highlight the strength of English Law in the United Arab Emirates, Qatar and Israel.

A dedicated legal services day will be held at the UK Pavilion in Dubai EXPO tomorrow. It will bring together 90 Middle Eastern legal experts with UK counterparts - for the first time at this scale - to help boost trade between the two regions. The government said the mission is expected to generate over £750,000 in new business for UK law firms, chambers and lawtech companies.

Lord Wolfson will also meet his counterparts in Israel and Qatar to discuss private international law and lawtech and reinforce the place of English law as the heart of international disputes.

Lord Wolfson said: 'Legal services contribute a massive £22bn to the UK economy and will be crucial to ensuring we build back better from the global pandemic.'
