Monthly one-hour audio tele-seminars that are available via the Internet are launched this week by legal marketing skills consultancy Ian Cooper Communications, which has developed them in association with BT.

The seminars will cover a wide range of practical marketing topics for solicitors and will allow them to participate live via their telephone hands-free set and see the interactive slides simultaneously on their computer screens.

The seminar system was piloted recently for more than 60 firms, with approximately 600 solicitors all listening at the same time.

An on-line solution that aims to confirm the identities of new clients individually in seconds has been introduced by Callcredit.

CallML matches the information given by clients against a variety of approved and independent public and private data sources, including the electoral roll, postal address, telephone files and credit records.

It also checks special sources such as the politically exposed persons file, the specially designated nationals file and the Bank of England terrorist file.

Osprey has developed a .net version of the Osprey Case Management software, which allows it to run on lower-specification Internet-ready PCs.

It is designed to be in keeping with Microsoft's goal of being available 'any time, any place and on any device'.

Microsoft says that through .net generic devices, clients, hosts, servers, applications and services will be able to communicate directly with each other to achieve the goal of truly seamless integration and collaboration.

Lawwws Ltd has launched a trio of Internet products aimed at cutting out unnecessary telephone calls to find available lawyers.

BarDiary, CourtDiary and Who is Available are aimed at not only enabling law firms and barristers' chambers to find out the availability of others, but also to help themselves by enabling users to enter their own details and in turn increase their workload and income by generating bookings.

A free 60-day trial is available at: www.bardiary.co.uk and www.courtdiary.co.uk.

Electronic local search provider OneSearch Direct has completed its expansion programme in England and is now offering its services to lawyers across the country.

It has been rolled out across England in the last 18 months, in a structured move that was first adopted by the company in Scotland more than a decade ago.

It now has a 40% market share in Scotland.

'The move into the English market has been deliberately measured and planned region by region,' said sales and marketing director Richard Megson.
