Magic circle firm Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer has elected eight new partners in London in its latest 22-strong appointment round. One is a woman - Vanessa Jakovich in global transactions.

The other London promotions are: Tom Clark and Oliver Marsden in dispute resolution; Aled Batey, Keir MacLennan, Cyrus Pocha and Roger Schofield in global transactions; and Jonathan Kembery in the legal department.

Overall, the 22 new appointments, effective 1 May, are drawn from 11 offices. Six of the 22 are women.

Meanwhile, international firm Dentons has promoted 25 lawyers to partner, including five in London. Of the London promotions, three of the five are women.

The promoted London lawyers are; Henrietta Baker and Tristan Jonckheer, from the firm’s technology, media and telecoms group, Katharine Harle, who works in the financial markets commercial disputes practice, James Langley, from the dispute resolution practice and Esther McDermott, who specialises in contentious construction.

 Globally, eight of the 25 lawyers are female.
