Dubai listing: National firm Pinsent Masons advised China Security & Surveillance Technology on the secondary listing of its shares on the Dubai International Financial Exchange – believed to be the first listing of a Chinese company in the Middle East.
Shipping credit: The London office of US firm Watson, Farley & Williams advised Citigroup, Deutsche Bank and Fortis on creating a $625m (£360m) credit facility for maritime transport giant Stolt-Nielsen. The money will pay for eight freighters in Korea, adding to Stolt-Nielsen’s existing fleet of 158.
African hydro: Magic circle firm Linklaters advised a consortium of developers on proposals to build the $1.85bn (£1bn), 1500-megawatt Mphanda Nkuwa hydroelectric power plant in Mozambique. The plant is being developed by Camargo Corrêa, Eletricidade de Moçambique and Energia Capital to supply electricity to Mozambique and South Africa.
Jersey wealth: City firm Lovells advised private equity house Dunedin on its £23.5m investment in Rathbone International, the Jersey-based unit of wealth management company Rathbone Brothers. The business was renamed Hawksford International. National firm Addleshaw Goddard advised Rathbone Brothers.
Bio power: South-west firm Burges Salmon advised renewable energy company Helius Energy on selling the building rights for a new 65-megawatt biomass plant in Stallingborough to RWE Innogy UK. The plant, which is expected to open in 2011, will be fuelled by waste wood or forest biomass. RWE was advised by Linklaters.
Cloud capital: City firm Taylor Wessing advised The Cloud Networks, the European wireless broadband provider, on raising €15m (£11.6m) from existing investors, Norwegian investor Ferd Venture and GP Bullhound, The Cloud’s corporate finance adviser. Ferd Venture was advised by Oslo firm CLP.
