A technical engineer with national firm Brown Jacobson has been banned from the profession after stealing equipment worth £23,000.

Lewis Green, based in the firm’s Nottingham office, was convicted of theft in February this year after taking 38 iPhones and 10 laptops from his employer.

Green was sentenced to eight months imprisonment, suspended for 15 months. He was also required to carry out 150 hours of unpaid work and ordered to pay costs of £340 and a victim surcharge of £156.

He had been dismissed in May 2021 for gross misconduct, having been with Browne Jacobson for less than two years.

Meanwhile, a claims handler for national firm Keoghs has also been barred from the legal profession after it was found she falsified client signatures on two separate witness statements to be used in court.

Antonia Elliston was employed by the Bolton-headquartered firm for less than 18 months before she left in March 2021. The SRA said she had failed to act with honesty or integrity and in doing so breached two principles.

Both Green and Elliston, as non-solicitors, were made subject to orders preventing them from working for any regulated firm or entity without gaining SRA approval.
