An incoming US firm has marked its arrival in the UK with a string of hires from a rival outfit.
Perkins Coie this week announced the opening of a European tech-focused corporate practice with a team of six lawyers, some of whom have previously been with White & Case – another US firm that previously expanded into the UK.
The team will be led by Ian Bagshaw, a corporate lawyer who previously built one of London’s private equity practices.
He will be joined by Jan Andrusko, partner and European head of M&A, partner Jan Stejskal and senior counsel Jan Jakoubek, all of whom have been with White & Case.
The Perkins Coie office will advise high-growth tech companies and their founders and mid-market private equity funds in London and across Europe. The firm already has more than 1,200 lawyers in offices in the US and Asia.
‘We aim to quickly become a leading advisor and law firm of choice for European companies and private equity firms navigating the technological and economic disruptions of our era,’ said Bill Malley, the firm’s managing partner.
Bagshaw spent more than seven years as co-head of the global private equity group at White & Case, and was previously co-head of the private equity practice at Linklaters and a partner with Clifford Chance.
‘Perkins Coie is a world-leading tech-focused law firm and one of the most forward-thinking firms when it comes to serving dynamic clients, accelerating talent, and advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion,’ Bagshaw added. ‘This is a unique opportunity to join an incredible firm with an energetic and focused group of high-performing lawyers, and we’re excited to get to work on our clients’ behalf.’
