Labour’s legal aid ‘summit’ in parliament last week promised to be an intriguing event - not least when Obiter overheard Lord (Willy) Bach say that both shadow justice secretary Lord Fal-coner and party leader Jeremy Corbyn would be making an appearance.

It is fair to say that Tony Blair’s former flatmate and Corbyn aren’t exactly the closest of comrades.

The more-Blairite-than-Blair Falconer told BBC Radio 4’s World at One programme last month that ‘it was absolutely obvious there are a number of issues where [Corbyn’s] and my views are different’.

However, in the spirit of Corbyn’s new politics, anything is possible.

The Labour leader and his shadow justice secretary did indeed manage to attend the same event. Just not at the same time.
