Lewis Silkin has welcomed partner Iskander Fernandez to its dispute resolution team.
Fernandez, who specialises in corporate crime, advises and represents individuals and corporations in proceedings involving allegations of bribery, corruption, fraud and money laundering. He acts in matters before the Serious Fraud Office, the Financial Conduct Authority, the Crown Prosecution Service and His Majesty’s Revenue and Customs. He is regularly instructed by national and international corporates, together with ultra-high-net-worth individuals, in complex corporate crime matters.
Fernandez regularly trains directors of national and multinational organisations on anti-bribery and corruption compliance, and assists clients in drafting or amending ABC policies and procedures. His instructions also extend to undertaking internal investigations for corporates following audit findings or whistleblower complaints, and advising energy clients on UK and EU sanctions regimes.
Fluent in Arabic, he is regularly instructed by clients based in the Middle East.
Richard Miskella, joint managing partner at Lewis Silkin, said: 'Iskander brings deep expertise in corporate crime, investigations and regulatory enforcement and we are delighted to welcome him to Lewis Silkin. His notable track record in some of the most significant bribery and corruption cases in recent years - including advising and representing the first corporate to contest a Section 7 Bribery Act 2010 prosecution, and advising individuals connected with the SFO investigations that led to the UK’s third and fourth Deferred Prosecution Agreements – makes him a fantastic addition to the firm. Iskander’s arrival further strengthens our ability to advise clients across the full spectrum of complex compliance and corporate crime matters.'
