The entire partnership of international firm Clyde & Co’s Hamburg office, together with almost the entire team, is leaving the firm and founding an independent commercial practice. NoordenJones will be 'an independent, internationally oriented commercial law firm with a particular focus on the transport, insurance & reinsurance, energy & infrastructure and private wealth sectors.' The firm said its venture marks one of the German market’s largest spin-offs in recent years.
The Hamburg firm advises clients on German and English law and draws on a network of independent law firms in key jurisdictions. Its client base includes shipping companies and logistics firms, shipyards, insurers and construction companies.
In a statement it said: 'With NoordenJones, we are creating an independent platform that enables us to provide even more entrepreneurial, flexible and international advice – particularly on complex cross-border matters. Alongside our German law capabilities, our strong English team provides comprehensive advice on English law, and for international matters we draw flexibly on our network, which has grown over many years.'
Clyde and Co has more than 3,000 legal professionals operate from over 70 offices and associated offices worldwide.
