Top-50 firm Eversheds Sutherland has reported another strong year with double-digit profit rises. In the year to 30 April, net profit at Eversheds Sutherland (International) increased by 13% to £209.4 million on turnover up 8% to £827.1m. Profit per equity partner rose by 14% to £1.61m.
No separate figure was released for pre-tax profits.
Keith Froud, who took over as chief executive last year, said: 'We saw growth across all of our practice areas and regions, with a notably strong performance in corporate finance. These results also mark a significant milestone for the firm, completing a decade of sustained and consistent growth in which revenue has doubled and profit has increased by over 150%.'
Eversheds is one of several firms highlighting investment in AI this year. 'The rollout of Harvey has been supported by a comprehensive programme of in-person training delivered to every lawyer across the firm, ensuring that it is adopted consistently and effectively,' Froud said. 'Today, more than 2,000 of our lawyers use Harvey as part of their daily practice.'
The firm also took on a record 37 lateral partners, double the number in the previous financial year.
