A former paralegal has been barred from the legal profession after his conviction for a campaign of harassment against his ex-partner.
Richard Melfi-Wroe, formerly with national firm Keoghs, was jailed for 27 months after he bombarded his ex-partner with threats including claims he would ‘destroy’ her life.
Cambridgeshire Police said following sentencing last year that Melfi-Wroe had ‘deluged’ her with aggressive messages and calls, vowing to 'take everything' from her, starting with her dog and then her home.
In February 2025, Melfi-Wroe was convicted of two counts of witness intimidation. As well as being jailed, he was made subject to a restraining order lasting 20 years.
DC Emma Cooke, who investigated, said Melfi-Wroe’s abusive behaviour ‘left the victim feeling overwhelmed and distressed due to his persistent, unwanted contact’.
In a decision notice published by the Solicitors Regulation Authority, it was stated that Melfi-Wroe, from Brighton, worked for Keoghs for more than four years until October 2024.
Between June 2024 and December 2024, during which time he still worked for the firm, Melfi-Wroe committed offences of witness intimidation, intending thereby to cause the police investigation to be obstructed, perverted or interfered with, resulting in his conviction of two counts of witness intimidation upon guilty pleas.
He was disqualified from working for any regulated body and ordered to pay £1,350 costs.
