As if the job interview process wasn’t intimidating enough, apparently the latest craze is to test prospective candidates’ reaction to the ‘oddball question’.

According to career website Glassdoor, interviewees for in-house legal positions have reported being thrown such posers as: ‘If your friend was seriously injured and you had to get him to a hospital, would you speed and go through a red light?’ and: ‘If you were having a dinner party and could invite seven people living or dead, whom would you invite?’

Good grief, seven? But perhaps they should be grateful they didn’t get the one put to candidates for a technology position: ‘How would you react if you were shot in the head with a Nerf gun?’

It all makes preparing for ‘where do you see yourself in five years’ time?’ look a doddle.
