Almost two years ago, Obiter reported on Cumbria firm Wragg Mark-Bell and its policy of letting dogs come to work with them.

We are pleased to note the firm is still dog-friendly, and even announced its latest recruit, paralegal Sophie Oxtoby, with a picture of her holding her pet Marley, a Jack Russell and Patterdale Terrier cross.

The press release includes information on how 12-year-old Marley – as well as Oxtoby of course – settled in to the new surroundings, and specifically how Marley had befriended other dogs at the firm.

We are assured that dog ownership is not mandatory for people joining Wragg Mark-Bell, though we’re sure it doesn’t hurt (it should be said that Oxtoby graduated earlier this year with a first class honours degree in law from Northumbria University so didn’t need any help from her canine).

These are trying times for many of us right now, so Obiter will make no apologies for including pictures of dogs – or indeed any other office pets – on these pages. Email amy.coleman@lawsociety.org.uk.
