Eight years ago, lawyer turned law lecturer Lloyd Gash started writing a play incorporating a manslaughter/murder case, and whether the death of his friend, who happened to be having an affair with his wife, was covered by his house insurance policy.

The venue was the intimate and somewhat aptly named Anatomy Museum at King’s College Strand campus, with the stage being a small floor area flanked by audience seats on either side.

Introduced by a short video of a couple enjoying moments together sightseeing in London, the story then followed with main character Mick Northbridge (played by Noah Britton) performing a monologue whilst holding a rifle.

The play follows the court case and is performed by a handful of versatile actors from The King’s Players, often playing more than one character. The entertaining Cosimo Boothby played Counsel P and other roles, at one stage chewing and spitting out case notes, at one point declaring…'He did indeed shoot the bugger'.

An excellent use of the space and production facilities made for an excellent offering, combining law studies with performing arts, to what will hopefully serve as useful learning materials for universities.
