Gurkha Welfare Trust, The
The Gurkha Welfare Trust is the only charity that’s dedicated to looking after Gurkha soldiers and their dependents in Nepal, and we are currently supporting tens of thousands of veterans and widows.
Museum of Policing in Devon & Cornwall
All of us will have come into contact with policing at some point in our lives, for good or ill, and the stories of these encounters reveal who we are – and who we were - as people and as a society. The Museum of Policing in Devon & Cornwall records, investigates, challenges, and celebrates the unique history of policing in the southwest. It preserves and examines the legacy of the past with pride – but also with humility.
Ash Rescue Centre
Ash Rescue Centre is a Devon based charity that adopts a One Welfare approach to its work with animals, nature and people; a concept that recognises the link between animal welfare, human welfare and environmental conservation. Our 100+ acre conservation site provides a lifetime home to rescued elderly horses, who take their place as conservation grazers in the wildflower meadows and species rich grasslands that have been reintroduced to the site as part of the project.
Awards for Young Musicians
Can you remember how your musical journey started? Perhaps it was when a grandparent sat you beside them at the piano. Or when a teacher saw how you came alive during music lessons. Or maybe when you were given your first guitar and played your first chords.
Barn Owl Trust
The Barn Owl Trust is a small national charity tucked away in South Devon that has been doing big things to conserve and protect not only the Barn Owl, but also the wider conservation and environmental issues that surround this beautiful bird. Anyone who has ever watched a Barn Owl hunting at dusk has surely been touched by the experience, but in recent years numbers of these beautiful birds have been declining due to environmental and man-made pressures.
Cinnamon Trust, The
We know the importance of the treasured relationship between people and pets and we recognise that this relationship is, more often than not seriously threatened by infirmity and frailty. We exist to ensure that any problem encountered in the day to day care of a pet can be overcome and all the benefits of owning a pet can be preserved. Our aims are achieved by tasking a national network of 20,000 volunteers to provide any assistance required including walking dogs and pet fosterings.
Dartmoor Zoological Society
Dartmoor Zoological Society is proud to shout about the charitable work we do. As a unique, wildlife conservation charity based in South Devon, we educate and empower people to be more connected with the natural world and to take greater responsibility for their impact. Helping people is as important to us as helping wildlife, and without inspired people in the world, how can we truly care for our planet and its special residents?
Donkey Sanctuary, The
Here at The Donkey Sanctuary, we see just how amazing donkeys are. Highly intelligent, sociable and capable of independent thinking, they make great companions – but they are also misunderstood and undervalued. By remembering donkeys in your will, you’re helping to fund our important work and transform the lives of donkeys across the UK, giving them a chance at a life free from suffering and abuse.
Help for Heroes
At Help for Heroes we believe the people who serve our country deserve the best possible support. Our expert staff help veterans, their families, serving personnel, and people who worked alongside our military. We support people across the UK with their physical and mental health through one-to-one clinical treatment, counselling, specialist equipment, home adaptations and a wide range of therapies and community-based sport, exercise and social activities. We also help with housing, finances and educational courses.
Hunt Staff Benefit Society
The Hunt Staff Benefit Society (HSBS) was founded in 1872 with the aim of providing pensions and other benefits to professional Hunt Staff. Today, the Society functions as a Registered Friendly Society (No. 698F) run by and for people in the hunting community. Anyone employed by a Hunt, whether in the kennels, stables or any other part of the Hunt establishment, can join the Society's Personal Pension Scheme, which has been specifically designed for Hunt Staff.
