A solicitor convicted of three counts of fraud by abuse of position was sentenced to three years and eight months imprisonment.
Andrew Cooper was sentenced at Southwark Crown Court last week by His Honour Judge Griffith.
The former probate solicitor, admitted in 2007, was struck off from the roll earlier this year after the Solicitors Disciplinary Tribunal found he had abused his position of power and authority over a three-year period.
The Solicitors Regulation Authority found a cash shortage of almost £1.2m arising from improper use being made from the client account of Cooper’s firm, Streathers Solicitors, based in Baker Street, London.
