Underlying profits at private equity-backed national firm Fletchers Solicitors more than doubled last year, the Manchester-based practice announced today. In the 11 months to April 2026, earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization (EBITDA) rose by 156% to £18 million on revenue up 47% to £113.3m.

The results follow a spurt of growth through acquisitions and recruitment of rivals' specialist teams. During 2025-26, Fletchers acquired Shoosmiths’ serious injury practice, family law specialist Rayden Solicitors and Court of Protection specialists EMG Solicitors and JE Bennett Law. Average employee numbers grew from 791 to 1,160. Alex Lynch, chief financial officer, said the result told a 'strong story of significant revenue growth, a substantial increase in underlying profitability and continued investment in scaling up the business.'

The 2026 accounts include £6.5m of exceptional costs, while the previous year benefited from a net exceptional credit of £4m, largely arising from the release of an £8.2m trade creditor balance. Adjustments for exceptional items increased EBITDA from £11.5m to £18m - up from £7m in 2025.

Lynch said the decision by investor Sun Capital to secure its long-term backing via a continuation fund investment will enable Fletchers Solicitors and the wider group of companies to continue to invest and grow under their current ownership into the 2030s. 'That backing and support from our investor will enable us to pursue our long-term strategy for organic growth and further M&A, strengthening our core personal injury and clinical negligence practice while also building a stronger presence in family law,' she said.
