International firm Quinn Emanuel Urquhart & Sullivan has closed its New York office for a week after a partner tested positive for coronavirus.

According to a statement released by the firm, a partner based in New York tested positive for Covid-19 over the weekend. It said that his symptoms are ‘minor’ and ‘he is resting at home, where he has been since 2 March because of reported infections in his religious community in Westchester County’.

The New York office will be closed this week. Quinn Emanuel said: ‘Our number one concern is for the health and well-being of all staff. With that in mind, we are taking several steps, including implementing a work-from-home period for the New York office. We will continue to monitor the situation and keep the staff updated.’

Last week, it was reported that big four accountancy firm Deloitte evacuated part of its London office after an employee tested positive for Covid-19. Meanwhile, trainee patent attorneys were told their qualifying exams had been cancelled due to virus fears.
